Today we bring you the Thermaltake Xaser Keyboard Kit!
When I saw this sharp looking kit online I decided to get it in and check it out. After all people love to match their systems and this matches the cases I use from Thermaltake. Read on to find out if this kit was worth it or not.
Very nice looking box, but there is a funny rattle in the box as I take it out of the shipping box. The kit comes with a keyboard, mouse and installation cd.
Well, now I see what was causing the rattle!
Here I'm looking at where the spacbar goes hoping I can fix it. It doesn't look complicated and it turns out it's easy to clip back in. Getting it to stay was another matter.
Here is what it looks like with the spacebar back in place.
The look of the mouse and keyboard impressed me.
Here we have the keyboard and mouse hooked up to the same system I did the Coolermaster review on.
Conclusion: I give it a 2 out of 10

Unfortunately the Thermaltake keyboard and mouse are good for looks, but not for actual use.
In a way the Coolermaster got away with this, keyboards and mice can't afford to even try. Even the software had a cheap sense about it as well, turn the volume knob and it doesn't know if it should go up or down! I'll be brutally honest (I know, too late right!), the keyboard is uncomfortable to use to the extreme, I can't count how often I mis-typed keys I never miss, key feel is horrible and feels very cheap. The mouse is unusable in games where you need fast response times, otherwise it performed ok. I remind myself this kit costs $39.00 so you get what you pay for.

Maybe Thermaltake should spend a little more money and make a better product because people who buy Thermaltake Xaser cases spend good money to get them, so why put out such a cheaply made keyboard kit? My guess is too much company growth and not enough resources to handle issues when they come up. I had a problem with a case last year and the response was instant and 100%.

I wanted to take more time with this kit, I called Thermaltake to get the keyboard replaced, three times, I was told it would be taken care of, so far it hasn't. I know they can do better than this so why aren't they? I'm now stuck trying to find a way to return this kit since I'm not even sure I want it replaced because I wouldn't use it, and I know I wouldn't give it to any of my customers. Let me know what your thoughts are, if you feel I've been unfair I'd love to hear what people think!
